Mate Carlo Fernandez (Australian, Age 30)

Carlo comes to us from Tasmania, Australia, which is where he began his nautical career back in 1994 aboard a commercial shipping vessel. A year later, he entered the Australian Royal Marines, where he operated as a Clearance Diver.

From 2001-2004, Carlo was based in Sydney, Australia, where while working as Head of Security at an exclusive cocktail club, he took on a variety of temporary positions on yachts that came

into Sydney Harbor. Carlo even headed up marina operations at the Sydney Super Yacht Centre for a short time while the Manager of the facility took a leave of absence.

Life at sea finally called Carlo back in May of 2004, when he took a job in the Mediterranean as a Mate and Diver aboard a commercial fishing vessel. Carlo made the switch over to the yachting life when he joined M/Y StarFire earlier this year.

arlo’s personal interests include all types of water sports, rock climbing, reading and photography. His goal is to work his way up to skipper’s position in the future – and we’ve no doubt that he will be successful!
